Every day is a gift from God. What we do with that gift is up to us. Whether we have been foolish or wise with this gift we still have this day, this minute. As we age we become selfish with the past and as we have more of the past we become more and more selfish. Wanting to reach for days gone by constantly reevaluating our decisions. Second guessing our decisions often means holding a grudge toward that past. And holding a grudge towards the past often involves holding a grudge toward God.
Not knowing why things did not or did happen is one angst of the human spirit that most everyone wrestles with. We become bitter, listless, angry. We have put our trust in the economy, our health, our family and friends. Each of these will let us down. But Romans 15:13 says ” May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Hope is what so many of us are missing. Hope it is like a match that never burns out. Today I pray that you find hope in God wherever you are and realize today is a gift.
